With the support of our community and “2-wheeled enthusiasts”, we raised $1,715 at Bison Rally 2010 for the “Preserve the Herd” fund.    During the event, we heard raving comments for out of town guest about the location, quality of vendors and bikes in the show, plus the variety of Fun Run stops showcasing all parts of Elgin.  Thank you to the support staff with the City of Elgin for providing a wonderful afternoon for our inaugural Bison Rally event out at Lords Park!  Our female Bison, Po-Key and Cha-hoey, were very excited by the Motorcycles & Scooters, families and lots of company in the park this day!  View FULL event photos to the right –>

Tomorrow is showtime in Lords Park, and we really hope you ride over to spend a few hours sharing your motorcycle or scooter with other riders.  If you want to enter the show, there’s a $10 fee, but the beauty of the park is always free.

The Elgin Public Museum will be open from Noon – 4:00pm, we’ll have event t-shirts available and you can tie dye them on site if you’d like.  There’s elk and deer and bison – oh my!

After the show we’ll have our Fun Run ($10 fee per cycle, $5 per passenger, $15 combo if you enter show and run) from 3:00pm – 5:00pm, and finish off the day with our raffle and music at JB’s Grill & Bar.

Bison Benefit Motorcycle and Scooter Rally plus Fun Run to “Preserve the Herd” and Lords Park Zoo on August 21st

ELGIN, IL:  The Bison Benefit Motorcycle and Scooter Rally (“Preserve the Herd!”) is a benefit to raise monies for the restoration of the Bison habitat and preservation of Lords Park Zoo located in beautiful of Lords Park since 1895!

Hundreds of riders from several Motorcycle and Scooter clubs in the surrounding Chicagoland area will be descending onto Elgin for a family friendly day of Bike Show, Charity Fun Run around Elgin and after-party with raffle prizes for Show/Fun Run participants!

The Motorcycle and Scooter show at Lords Park will run from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm and is FREE to the public thanks to the sponsorship of B&B Motorsports.  Show entry is only $10 per ride, with many categories of judging available.

The Bison Fun Run for raffle tickets will start at 3:00 pm with several locations throughout Elgin featured on a riders map for a minimal entry of $10 per bike ($5 per passenger). There is a Bison Rally Show/Fun Run combo price of $15 for our all-day riders.

The “Friends of Lords Park Zoo” will be providing a food vendor and Live DJ booth at the bike show followed-up by a post Fun Run after-party at JB’s Grill and Pub, featuring the entertainment of crowd-favorite Mighty Joe Beatty.

August 21st is the Bison Benefit Motorcycle & Scooter Show

Show $10 (from 11:00am – 3:00pm), Fun Run $10 (3:00pm – 5:00pm) and Raffle / Music (6:00pm – 8:00pm).  But we’re sure you’ll want to do both the Show and the Fun Run, cost $15 .

This event is a fundraiser for the Lords Park Zoo, in particular for updated fencing for the Bison so that we can bring in younger bison and “preserve the herd”.  Please visit Friends of Lords Park Zoo for more details on their efforts.

As part of the Fun Run, we’re looking for wide spread locations across Elgin, so if you have any connections with applicable restaurants or wheel friendly businesses, please let us know.  As a featured location, we would ask that someone be available to stamp the location on our map, and hand out a raffle ticket to any of our participants who stop by.  We hope that would bring shoppers / hungry people to the business as well.

All featured locations will be listed on the map that we hand out to every entrant in our Fun Run.  Also as a featured location, we ask for a donation toward our Fun Run Raffle that will be held in the park after riders return.  Anything from gift cards, to services, to that new motorcycle helmet that no one used on a shelf, would be appreciated.
